The Adult Nursing course will develop competencies required to care for adult patients with a variety of disorders in a safe manner, using the nursing process. In Adult Nursing 2 students will focus on the nursing care of adults experiencing prevalent health disorders related to the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, gastro-intestinal and metabolic systems. Students will be introduced to knowledge and skills required for holistic assessment and patient care management of these disorders, using the nursing process. Emphasis is placed on integrating therapeutic communication skills and critical thinking skills in student development of competencies as well as ensuring evidence-based nursing care. This course includes classroom and laboratory simulation activities.
This course introduces students to the study of infectious diseases. It is designed to provide students with an understanding of the causative agents of infectious diseases of body systems. Clinical manifestations and prevention measures of selected infections will be a major focus of the student’s study in this course.
