ខ្លឹមសារនៃមុខវិជ្ជា Course Description: 

  • This course is aimed at qualified healthcare professionals (eg nurses, doctors, physiotherapists) who already work with patients with swallowing problems (dysphagia) in their current workplace, within Phnom Penh. 
  • This part-time course provides the knowledge and skills to carry out basic assessment and management of adult oropharyngeal dysphagia, within a student’s existing workplace. 
  • On completion, students will have knowledge of dysphagia-related anatomy, physiology, signs, symptoms, consequences, and aetiologies. They will also have foundational knowledge of bedside assessment (screening and clinical evaluation) and of a variety of management approaches and techniques. 
  • The course has a heavy emphasis on acquiring practical skills in the clinical application of assessment and treatment techniques. 
  • On completion, students will be able to apply assessment and management skills within their specific workplace, with ongoing supervision/support, and within a well-structured multi-disciplinary context. 
  • Through completion, students will be able to reduce dysphagia complications, such as weight loss, aspiration pneumonia, and even death for patients with dysphagia in their workplaces. 
  • The aim of this course is to provide knowledge and skills to those already working with this patient group.
